chartreuse de la verne
built in the 12th century up on the hills in the back country in the Var,
the monastery has been burnt a couple of times through the years.
the actual building has been rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries.
since 1983, nuns - from Bethléem - live a contemplative and monastic life.
